These women definitely did, and somehow, despite the tiny hang-up of already being in relationships, made a fling with a local a reality. Here, 12 women reveal their craziest cheating confessions that went down overseas at bars, flats, and just straight up ~under the covers~ while bae was back home.
1. “I was studying abroad in London and had been dating this amazing guy [back home] for about two years.
The first day there, I noticed so many good-looking guys, and no one can deny accents are the sexiest thing ever. One night, my boyfriend and I Skyped, and we got into a huge fight about how I was having more fun abroad than focusing on him … I reassured him that it was just hard keeping up with school due to the time difference. He just didn’t get it and he made me feel terrible for enjoying myself. I hung up with him, grabbed a bottle of wine, got ready, and went out with some friends. I met this amazing guy.
He was from London, blue hair, crystal blue eyes, amazing body! I felt like I was in heaven. By this point, I was very drunk and I went back to his flat. Let’s just say I have never felt that way in my life! The next morning, I felt so guilty. I Skyped my best friend told her everything, and she informed me that she heard my boyfriend had been cheating on me the whole time since I had been there! I confronted him and it was true. I was so mad that he made me feel bad for everything when he was cheating on me since the night I left. I messaged the British guy I had hooked up with and we reconnected that day. Today, it’s been six years and we’re married. He moved to the U.S. and we’re expecting our first child. Crazy how things work out!” —Ciara, 27
2. “My partner and I had been dating for a year and had had a lot of rough patches.
One summer, we both decided to study abroad but in two different countries. My travel group had a different tour guide each week on our excursions. There was one in particular that caught my eye. He was tall, dark, handsome, and from Costa Rica, of course. Before I left on the trip, I told my friends I would kiss a Costa Rican before I returned home. Well, I got that chance with Mr. Sexy Tour Guide. It was clear after the first day that there was a connection. So I snuck off to his hotel room late at night and we got to know each other better, if you know what I mean.
I got his number and later that week, he invited me and a friend to go out dancing. Little did I know that he was picking me up on a motorcycle! Let’s just say I had a Lizzie McGuire moment with my foreign hunk on the back of his motorcycle. It was amazing. We got to the club and grabbed some drinks and started dancing. One thing led to another and we were making out in a back room on a table. I don’t think my partner ever found out.” —Kelley, 24
3. “I was in Italy this past summer for study abroad. I left my boyfriend of six months at home and had no intentions of cheating.
I met this guy, who happened to have the same name as my USA boyfriend, and we really hit it off. He drove a wicked BMW, and I ended up at his place one night. And then again. And again. My boyfriend never found out, and I plan to keep it that way. My roommate during study abroad and I swore to secrecy. So what happens in Italy stays there!” —Cat, 21
4. “I spent nine months at a music school in Australia my first year after high school.
I had been dating my boyfriend for almost three years. We were both virgins when I left; we were waiting until marriage. I met a waiter at a local restaurant and started hanging out with him and his friends a lot. I went to his place one night to watch a movie with another couple and ended up under a blanket on the couch watching the movie. By the end of the movie, he had explored more of me while we were under the blanket than my boyfriend did in three years. Needless to say, we were both hot and bothered.
I ended up staying the night that night and many more after. I dated my boyfriend for a couple of months after I got back, but then we broke up. I never told him.” —Kristin, 22
5. “I had been dating my boyfriend about nine months when I went to Spain for three weeks with a travel company.
There was a guy on the trip with me. We hit it off really well and we ended up hooking up. I came home and while showing my boyfriend pictures, I tried to avoid the ones of us because I knew he’d be upset. He knew I was skipping over some pictures so he went back, and saw them, and got super upset and jealous. The photos didn’t even hint that I had cheated but he always got jealous about me around boys anyway. We aren’t dating anymore because I couldn’t handle his jealousy issues. Crisis avoided!” —Margaret, 22
6. “I studied abroad in the U.K. My ex and I had been dating for two years when I left Canada for England.
We had been having our fair share of problems but still we agreed to a long-distance relationship anyway. I landed in England and on my second day, I had made my group of friends which consisted of Americans, Australians, Spanish, Italians and other Canadians. Right from the time I met them, I had an instant attraction to one of the Australian guys. He was drop-dead gorgeous. I never made a move because (1) I wasn’t sure he was into me, (2) he loved the ladies, and (3) I had a boyfriend.
However, two months into the semester, we were at the club, and he made his move. We ended up dancing and making out with one another all night long. Eventually he came back to my place. I regretted it a little the next day, but a part of me loved every single minute of it. About a week later, I ended up breaking up with my boyfriend. A part of the reason was the Aussie, but it was mostly due to the fact that it just wasn’t working. I never told my boyfriend I cheated on him, and in fact, he and I are still good friends to this day. The Aussie guy and I continued our sexual relationship for the rest of the year; however, nothing more ever came of it.” —Lindsay, 23
7. “I was studying in Sicily, Italy. My boyfriend from high school and I went to the same college. Back to Italy:
I was in a coffee shop one morning and while waiting in line trying to order, I heard a guy laughing at my attempt to speak Italian. I turned around and the guy literally had an old-time movie star look. We got to talking and had coffee together. The next day, he invited me to go to the beach with him and his buddies. Turns out he owns a beautiful beach house. We all got to drinking while everyone else was out on the beach. I was helping him clean up and we were doing a sloppy job. He started spraying me with the faucet and we ran around the kitchen.
Then something clicked and we attacked each other’s clothes off right there on the kitchen floor. I felt like I was living in a cheesy movie, but get this: When I left the U.S., I was a little nervous because my boyfriend and this girl were kind of shady and they always flirted. But I’m not the jealous type, so I didn’t really give it much thought. My girlfriend from back home calls me to tell me that I should get tested because my boyfriend has an STI from that girl, who he cheated with on me before I left. Damn right I told him. I made sure he saw how happy I was without him.” —Olive, 20
8. “I was studying in Ireland my junior year of college. My boyfriend and I had been dating a little over a year when I left.
The incident of cheating was a one-time thing; it was just a simple makeout drunkenly at a bar in downtown Dublin. My boyfriend, now fiancé, has never found out. I really have no intention of telling him because I think it was a just a moment where I missed him and wanted attention. I do still feel bad about it, but I know it has potential to ruin everything we have together and I know 100 percent that I’m not going to do any form of cheating again. So I really don’t feel the need to tell him.” —Ashley, 24
9. “I went to the U.S. from Mexico to study at a university in Texas for a semester.
My boyfriend and I had been dating nine months by then, but he felt so insecure about me going there. He started pressuring me to always have Wi-Fi on my cellphone so I could answer every message he sent. I tolerated that for two months, but I got enough of it and I stopped caring about him. So when a guy from a fraternity invited me to a party at their house, I went as his date. I started hanging out a lot with him and his friends. One day at a party, I got tipsy and we kissed. But the truth is that he also had a girlfriend on campus, so I don’t know how she never found out. We would hang out every day; we went out for dinner a couple times.
We started to act like boyfriend and girlfriend, but when we had sex, he freaked out, saying that was wrong even though it felt right. So he just stopped talking to me. A week after, I was hanging at a friend’s dorm and he walked in. So we talked and he told me that he stopped talking to me because he was falling for me. So we still hung out the rest of the time I had left there, but we stopped making out, so “we wouldn’t get more into it.” But we still cried when he took me to the airport. My partner obviously never found out. But when I came back, I broke up with him, as I really missed the other guy from the U.S.” —Sarah, 22
10. “I went to Japan almost three years ago for just six months.
I was just bored to death; not many Japanese people know how to speak English. One night, I just finished my classes and decided to chill at a local club with my friends. I met up with an old friend of mine, actually my boyfriend’s best friend. We kind of talked and talked, and somehow I ended up in his apartment. I didn’t know how to react, but the sex was great, and I wouldn’t have missed it for the world. So we ended up having sex almost every day for the rest of my remaining time in Japan. I’m still dating my boyfriend. We are currently on our eighth year now and he’s never found out.” —Martha, 25
